SURGERY CENTER

Our Mission

At the Rush Veterinary Urgent Care Surgery Center, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality surgical care for your pets. Our mission is to keep your pets happy and healthy. Our team of experienced and compassionate veterinarians and staff are here to provide your pets with the best possible care.

ABOUT OUR SURGERY CENTER

Our Services

We offer a wide range of surgical procedures, which are listed below.

Pets will be dropped off first thing in the morning.  Discharge will be between 4-6pm, with few to no exceptions.

Bloodwork

ALL patients are required to have bloodwork EXCEPT for routine spay/neuter surgeries.  The bloodwork performed shows us basic organ function and aids us in making the safest choices for your pet's anesthesia.  We do accept recent bloodwork (within 3 months) performed by another veterinary hospital or the bloodwork can be done here at RVUC. If your pet is having the bloodwork done with us, we can send it to our reference lab ($78) but it will need to be drawn AT LEAST 48 hours prior to your pet's procedure or we can do it the day of the procedure using our in house lab ($125).  We will contact you with bloodwork results prior to your pet's surgery.

Biopsy

A biopsy is the only way for doctors to tell if a growth is cancerous or benign.  The surgeon performing the procedure will make every effort possible during the surgery to obtain "clean margins" but this is not always possible on some areas of the body.  When a biopsy is sent, we will then be able to tell if we have successfully removed all of the abnormal cells.  If you choose to have a biopsy ($175 for the first sample), you will be contacted by one of our veterinarians to review the results and discuss further treatment if necessary.  THE BIOPSY RESULTS WILL TAKE AT LEAST 2 WEEKS.

Extended After Care & Hospitalization

Some patients will require hospitalization after surgery for IV fluids and medications.  We are able to provide that care but please note that WE DO NOT HAVE 24 HOUR STAFF.  There will be a period of time overnight that your pet is alone.  We WILL NOT leave any animal that is unstable unattended.  If that is the case, we may be able to arrange for overnight care at our facility or you have the option to transfer your pet to a 24-hour facility at your cost.

Discharge

All patients will be sent home with complete aftercare instructions, any medications needed and any necessary follow up plan.

Schedule Surgery

If you are interested in scheduling surgery for your pet, please fill out and submit the Surgery Referral Form along with ALL medical records.  Once we receive the request and medical records, a veterinary technician will be contacting you to discuss the details of the procedure.

Additionally, you may fill out the Spay/Neuter request form if you are just looking to schedule a routine spay/neuter.
